Advanced Clawhammer- waitlist
Each day of this workshop will focus on a specific topic. They will be...
Chords: How to use them in back-up playing, as well as how to incorporate them into your tunes. We'll look at useful inversions and alternate strumming patterns.
Song Back-up: Learn some tricks and principles that will help make you better at backing yourself (or others) up once the singing starts.
Ghost Notes, Bass Lines, Skip Beats, Not-So-Basic Strums, and Explosion Licks: I'll show you a bunch of little tricks that I use all the time in my playing, and how to apply them to yours.
How to Learn Tunes by Ear: We'll look at how to methodically build your own arrangements of tunes by ear. Starting with a recording of a tune, and build up several arrangements by adding techniques. We'll look at how this approach applies to learning tunes on the fly in a jam session.
An overview of each of these topics (including tabs and recordings) will be provided for each of these topics. Participants will have everything they will need to go live in a cave on an isolated island, study, and eventually emerge as the next clawhammer Jedi.
Participants will be given a couple of simple tunes to work on in advance that will help facilitate a super week of musical education!
