Advanced Bluegrass Fiddle
In this class, we will hone specific techniques and skills to enhance your fiddle playing, and also work on how to use those skills more effectively in a jam or performance. We’ll focus on tone, intonation, and fluid bowing, and also cover double stops, slides and other ways to capture a bluegrass fiddle sound. Later in the week we’ll go more in-depth on improvising on a melody and using the bow to add rhythm and drive to your playing.
Ellie Hakanson
Ellie Hakanson is a fiddle player and vocalist with Missy Raines and Allegheny and Kristy Cox and Grasstime. She has been playing bluegrass since childhood and was nominated for several IBMA awards while touring with Jeff Scroggins and Colorado. In addition to touring and performing, Ellie teaches fiddle and voice at camps and private lessons.
