Int. Rhythm Guitar - Waitlist
In the Intermediate Rhythm Guitar class, we will learn all about the often-underappreciated skill that is rhythm guitar playing. This class will focus on the bluegrass and old-time music styles. We will look to our great leaders—Lester Flatt, Jimmy Martin, Charlie Monroe, Clyde Moody, Mac Wiseman, Red Smiley, and more!—to find out why they would be most excellent to jam with or have backing you up, and learn their skills so we can be wildly popular in the jams we attend. Chords, strumming, right-hand realness, listening skills, and of course nifty runs so we can show off a little bit.
Kayla Hotte
Ardrossan, Alberta, based Kayla Hotte is certainly one of the fresher faces of bluegrass music. But don't let her age and innocence appearance fool you𝄖she is a force to be reckoned with!
Hotte is a graduate of Grant MacEwan University's music program, as well as the IBMA's Leadership Bluegrass program. She is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, mandolin, and fiddle.
Hotte's love of music was born at a young age and she's been performing for almost as long as she's been walking and talking. Her musical career began with playing in a family bluegrass band and, as soon as she was old enough to do so, she started up her own groups over the years. Currently, Kayla has been playing in a duo with her brother and musical partner, Matt Hotte.
